What Can I Expect During My First Visit to a Chiropractor? You can expect to complete a full medical history questionnaire and "new patient" paperwork. You will then consult with the doctor. This consultation is your opportunity to express your health concerns and expectations, and to ask any questions you may have pertaining to the matter. It is also for the Chiropractor to express his role in your health care and discuss your health prognosis. A physical exam will be performed which may include orthopedic testing, reflex assessments, muscle testing, and a specific Chiropractic evaluation. We also perform two very important tests to evaluate the relative health of the nervous system and to look for areas of imbalance. The two tests are surface EMG and Thermography. An added benefit of these two tests is that they are none invasive. They take readings off of the surface of the skin, nothing is added to the body or taken away. In some cases x-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. X-rays can usually be done at our office. Dr. Hancock will go over the results of the exam, tests and x-rays with you and make specific recommendations for your care plan to regain your health. |
